Attack on Marian Cozma, Ivan Perisic and Zarko Sesum in Valatonfured has stirred wind in Hungary.
The police have started a large-scale investigation to find the attackers of three handball players who were the victims of a brutal and unremembered attack in Hungary.
- The murder of the Romanian handball player and two other Veszprem players being wounded has abrupted peace in our country. We have taken all measures to find the perpetrators – said Hungarian Justice Minister Tobor Draskovics, asking the public to be patient.
Certain Hungarian media accused to Roma people for the murder of Cozma and attacks on Pesic and Sesum, which is why radical groups have already announced they would retaliate. However, the police announced there was still no evidence to support that claim.
- Only the police can implement the fight against crime. Please, be sensible and refrain from retaliation – the minister added.
Hungarian guards announce attack
Despite his statements, members of the Hungarian guard, radical nationalist movement, announced retaliation and attacks on Roma minority members. The Hungarian guard was established in August 207, while 29-year-old Gabor Vona heads the right-wing extremists.
The tragic astonished the entire country, while numerous Veszprem residents have been standing in front of the sports hall and lighting candles for the killed 27-year-old player Cozma, praying for Pesic and Sesum`s recovery.
- It is hard to be smart in this case. We have lost a great athlete and an excellent man. We are all shocked and struck with grief – said one of the Veszprem fans in front of the hall.
