Competing for Milan´s bench are the current coach of Ajax, Marko van Basten, and the former Italian coach Roberto Donadoni.
It is more and more likely that Carlo Ancelotti is counting his final days as coach of the Italian football giant Milan, and according to the Italian and Spanish media, his position could be taken by the Dutchman Frank Rijkaard.
It is no secret that the owner of the “Rossoneri” Silvio Berlusconi is disappointed with the results that the seven times European champion has been getting recently. Milan is going through another lost season, it has said goodbye to Europe, and in the championship it has a 12 point disadvantage behind the leaders and city rival Inter. The title has been lost, and the position that leads into the Champion’s League has been threatened.
Club leaders tell Ancelotti to win a position for the Champion’s League
Ancelotti has taken the responsibility for the poor results, but has no intention of resigning. However, the club leaders have clearly told him that winning a position that leads to the Champion’s League is a must.
Ancelotti has been leading Milan since 2001, and has won the Champion’s League with the “Rossoneri” twice (2003 and 2007), the Italian championship (2003), the Italian cup (2003), the European supercup (2003 and 2007) and the FIFA Club World Cup (2007).
Rijkaard is currently unemployed after leaving Barcelona last year in July, after five years there. Interestingly, Rijkaard is being mentioned as a possible coach for Chelsea. Currently competion for the position of Milan’s coach are the current coach of Ajax Marco van Basten, and the former Italian coach Roberto Donadoni.
