Second day of PBZ Zagreb Indoors is underway, scheduled matches between Ljubicic and Cilic in couples and Karlovic in singles` competition.
First duels of the PBZ Zagreb Indoors second day are over. Pass in the second round on the central court was won by Thomas Johansson, Australian Open 2002 Champion, who won against Serb Janko Tipsarevic in two easy sets 6-4, 6-4.
In the small hall Canadian of Croatian origin Frank Dancevic took the victory over the qualified Alexander Waske with 6-3, 7-6. The interesting game abounded with excellent serves and they served 28 aces altogether.
Kid`s Day was held this morning, famous tennis players mixed with children. Around 200 boys and girls took part, while they were entertained by Goran Ivanisevic, Marin Cilic, Ivan Ljubicic, Belgian Kristof Vligen and the Finnish Jarkko Nieminen. The Finn came to Zagreb, in spite of canceling the tournament and did Kid`s day so we took the opportunity for a brief interview.
Jarkko pointed out he canceled the tournament due to problems with his left ankle which has been bothering him from the season`s start.
-I wanted to play in Zagreb because I like it here very much, but it simply could not happen. I stated training a few days ago and not to full extent. Zagreb is in the top three fastest courts ,which is good but not all tournaments should be like that.
Due to lack of matches he could not compare the surfaces, but he has his crown favourite.
-I believe Ivan Ljubicic will defend his title and he can hardly be stopped by anyone. This is an excellent tournament and he is quite strong, but I cannot see who might endanger Ivan.
On the central court there are no matches until 14 hours when in the first couples` round Ivan Ljubicic and Marin Cilic meet with the combination Mertinak/Pala. Afterwards, from 16 hours Ivo Karlovic and Jiri Vanek are playing. In the small hall, the match between Peya and Seppi is underway.
