Steven Gerrard Took Part in Fight, Ends up in Jail

Text

The Reds decided to celebrate their 5:1 victory against Newcastle by drinking heavily, after which a fight broke out.

Liverpool crushed Newcastle in an away game 5:1, so the players decided to go out and celebrate. But as they had a bit to drink, a small brawl broke out.

- Police were called to the Bold Street restaurant and bar at around 2.30am this morning (Monday December 29, 2008). Four men aged 33, 31, 29 and 19 from Huyton, a 28-year-old man from Formby and an 18-year-old man were arrested on Lord Street on suspicion of section 20 assault and remain in police custody – an official police report states.

The English media immediately disclosed that one of those arrested is Steven Gerrard, the Reds captain.

Gerrard is 28 years old and is from Formby, the media concluded and so the story was made. It is not even important that they do not know if it is really him in question, how the fight began and what the consequences were. The only thing that is certain is the following:

- A 34-year-old man from Southport was taken to hospital with facial injuries which are not believed to be life threatening – the police said.
