Terry Is New Captain of English Football Team

Terry was surprised the most with Capello’s choice while many saw him as skipper because of his leadership skills.

The coach of the English football team, Fabio Capello, appointed John Terry as the team’s new captain.

Terry was greatly surprised by the nomination because he thought the honour would go to Rio Ferdinand.

- I think everybody realises it means the world to me to retain the armband. I'd heard the whispers that Rio had got the armband so I was a little bit shocked but I've got to make the most of it – Terry told the BBC.

Then reporters spring questions on Capello about his reasons for the choice.

- Rio, when he was captain, played very well - the same level as John. It was not easy for me to choose because they are very good players. The big personality of John was the reason I chose John – Capello said.

This decision does not come as a surprise because as captain of Chelsea, Terry proved that as a player he can take on the responsibility and is a player who gives all to the team.
