U.K. soccer player Muamba still critical
LONDON, March 18 (UPI) -- Doctors said British soccer player Fabrice Muamba remained in critical condition Sunday after apparently suffering a heart attack during a match.
Muamba, a midfielder for Bolton, collapsed on the field Saturday in the midst of a match against Tottenham.
"Muamba just hit the deck out of nowhere," said CNN assistant producer Zayn Nabbi, who witnessed the collapse. "We realized quite quickly that this was serious because the medical staff all rushed on and they were waved onto the field by the Tottenham players. From what we saw they were trying to resuscitate Fabrice Muamba."
The remainder of the contest was canceled and Sky Sports said Bolton's match on Tuesday against Aston Villa had also been scrubbed.
CNN said Muamba, 23, hailed from the Democratic Republic of Congo and had played for England at the under-21 level.
