The Real Madrid medical team decided to consult a famous US expert before the final decision to operate the top scorer`s knee.
Spanish football champion Real Madrid`d attacker Ruud Van Nistelrooy (32) might be away from the pitch for a long time and may even undergo right knee surgery, Spanish AS sport daily writes.
Van Nistelrooy complained about knee pain right after the 4 th round match of the Champions League H group against Juventus (0-2) on Wednesday, and after tests on Friday morning, the Real Madrid medical team believes he might need a new operation.
Van Nistelrooy has previously has surgery on his right knee in 2000, with dr. Steadman from the USA, and now the club`s medical team has decided to consult the famous American expert before reaching the final decision.
The Dutch striker has already missed several matches this season due to knee pain.
Apart from Van Nistelrooy, Real`s coach Bern Schuster cannot count on Arjen Robben, Miguel Torres, Pepe, Sergio Ramos or Ruben de la Red for the Saturday championship match against Malaga.
