Veteran left-handed pitcher Randy Johnson signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco Giants on Friday, the team said on its website.

The contract is reportedly worth $8 million with a possible additional $5 million in bonuses.

The 45-year-old, nicknamed "Big Unit" due to his 2.08m (6'10") height, is a five-time Cy Young Award winner and will join fellow winners Barry Zito and Tim Lincecum at the Giants.

Johnson finished 11-10 with a 3.91 ERA in 30 starts with the Arizona Diamondbacks last season.
