The English went mad because foreigners are taking over their clubs. Arsenal is the latest victim of private investors.

Arsenal has protected itself for years from takeovers by private investors s four persons held their shares and nobody was allowed to trade shares apart from them. After the key shareholder left, Nina Bracwell-Smith, the path to Russian magnate Usmanov was cleared, who could become the new owner of this English club with 50 million pounds.

The odd thing is that the Englishwoman of Indian origin hastily decided to leave the club, because her family has been in Arsenal for 70 years. Furthermore, she gave a statement in October, saying she has never thought about selling her share in the club and would never do it. In the meantime, Usmanov made some key moves and is now free to get hold of Bracwell-Smith`s shares.

This would not be such a problem if her husband Richard Carr had not left the Board along with her, who held 4.4 percent of Arsenal shares. Thus, the inside arrangement of not-selling shares to persons outside the circle fell through an Usmanov will surely not miss the opportunity to snatch another English club for the foreign team.

Champions Manchester United are owned by Americans, just like Liverpool, Chelsea are owned by Russians, just like Arsenal will soon be. Such developments anger the fans, because it a well-known fact that they follow club because of love and have some romantic sentiments, which are simply incomprehensible in the raw world of capitalism.

VIDEO: Glazer Is Enemy Number 1 In Manchester

Reuters-.--.-A worker inspects U.S. dollar bills inside a money changer in ManilaThis would not be so problematic if ticket, kit and all accompanying prices were not up with the entrance of private investors and absolute owners, which is why football in England ceases to be  what its intention was – entertainment for the middle class and the poorest middle class.

At the moment, it is entertainment for the wealthy, while the poor watch club matches, which have been present in their families for decades, in local pubs and discuss the obscene prices. Are they truly are obscene! The cheapest ticket for Liverpool in 39 pounds, 36 for Arsenal, 44 for Manchester and 34 pounds for Chelsea.

With Glazer`s arrival, Manchester suddenly increased ticket prices. The American borrowed a billion dollars from a bank, purchased the club for 700 million and now wants to pay back the bank through the fans. It is incredible that he was allowed. Because of this, the Red Devils have established their club, where every club member owns one share which cannot be sold.

Liverpool supporters have also started organising protests because the Americans in the club, Gillett and Hicks, became suspicious. The club is suddenly in debt, the stadium will not have been finalised by 2009, but possibly by the end of 2012.

We should mention that currently nine Premiership clubs are owned by foreigners. Apart from four already mentioned, these include Fulham, Manchester City, Portsmouth, Aston Villa and West Ham.

Still, Villa owner Randy Lerner, who is a great humanitarian and helps poor children, did not increase ticket prices. Mohamed al Fayed was not bad for a long period of time, Fulham owner, who elevated the London club and did not raise prices while business was alright, However, this is no longer the case; he is even considering selling the club and the fans are getting more and more dissatisfied.

Romantic fans are starting to found their own clubs and go back to football beginnings: supporting the club for love, whose players pay back the fans by playing, not with contracts, which have become more than unrealistic.
