Apart from odd referee calls, the match was also marked by conflict between Balic and Karabatic, as well as Vori and the referee.
During the 2009 World Handball Championship final match between France and Croatia, French squad player Nikola Karabatic roughly tackled Croat Ivano Balic, who then pushed him in the 46 th minute.
Afterwards, angry with the referre`s call, Igor Vori gestured towards the referee with the ball, as if he was going to attack him, who took it the wrong way and gave Vori the red card, followed by a fine from the International Handball Federation.
Fortunately, everything remained on the pushing level, while Davor Dominikovic, who commentated the events, shouted at the Danish referees:
- I`m sorry that Vori did`t punch him in the head, because the moron deserved it – Dominikovic said, but soon apologised to the viewers, saying he was overwhelmed by emotion. Although Vlado Sola and he admitted they were sorry that the team lost gols and that it was a close shave, they also pointed out they were proud of their team colleagues.
- We`ll meet again at some other competition and pay them back for this – Sola and Dominikovic concluded.
