The American, who won the downhill in Lake Louise last week, was also fastest in Wednesday`s first training session.
Vonn, who skied as Lindsey Kildow before her marriage to former US skier Thomas Vonn during the close-season, posted a time of one minute 34.30 seconds on Thursday.
The American, who won the downhill in Lake Louise last week, was also fastest in Wednesday's first training session.
"It was good, the light was flat and it was a bit bumpy and I skied a little conservatively down the bottom," she said.
Vonn said she had watched her previous training session on video and had decided she needed to be a little more precise in her approach.
"I skied pretty well but I need to be a bit more patient and cleaner," she said while emphasising the importance the course inspections.
"There won't be any surprises tomorrow (Friday)," she said.
Austrian Elisabeth Goergl was just nine hundredths of a second behind followed by Switzerland's Martina Schild and another Austrian, Renate Goetschl.
Britain's Chemmy Alcott was ninth quickest - making the top 10 in training for the second day.
Friday's race is the first time the women have raced downhill at Aspen since 1988 and it will be followed by a super-G on Saturday and a giant slalom on Sunday.
