Wilbek: France Is The Best Team Of Championship

Text

Duvnjak is absolutely your future, and Vori is a player that any team would love to have in their ranks.

SPLIT, CROATIA - Everyone was at a loss for words as the Danish handball team held a press conference in Split, because neither the organisers nor the team invited an interpreter. After the quiet press conference, which we used to photograph the Danish headquarters, we managed to hold a brief interview with Ulrik Wilbek, Danish selector, thanks to the help of their interpreter.

What is your view of the course of the championship when it comes to your matches and what do you believe the outcome of tomorrow`s match with the French will be?

- We slowly elevated ourselves concerning form, I think we have reached our optimum, but of course, we can do better. We play beautiful handball, and this is what our fans want most from us. The French are surely the most powerful team of this championship. Karabatic and other individual players are very good, above all, I mean the defence which is the best in the world, no matter what anyone says. This does not mean we don`t stand a chance tomorrow, of course.

-.-Ernest Pelaić-.-Ulrik WilbekHow would you interpret Croats beating France?

- I believe Croats wanted to win more then the French. Also, the audience would not let them lose, of course, I mean that positively. The audience in Croatia will perhaps be the key factor in the final standings. Hat`s off for that.

Which Croatian player do you like the most, i.e. whom would you like to play in your team?

- Definitely, Ivano Balic is the best player, but as time goes by, I doubt my judgement more and more. Firstly, he is injured, secondly, one can tell he is not in form. I like Igor Vori and Domagoj Duvnjak. I think Duvnjak is absolutely your future, and Vori is a player that any team would love to have in their ranks. They are very talented and I am impressed with their play. I`m sorry that I haven`t seen Sprem play more, he has something fantastic in him, but this is a question for the selector.

In which place do you see Denmark?

- At one of the first three positions. It will be tough, but we have the quality for gold as well. In the end, how could I say anything else?
