World Handball Championship In Zagreb Threatened

Seeing how the Arena hall lacks a suitable warming up hall, the WC finalists will probably be warming up 5 km away, at Dom sportova.

Due to the architects` oversight and responsible people for the construction of the Arena handball hall, the warming up hall is of smaller dimensions than the handball court. This is why there is a possibility the teams will have to warm up 5 kilometres away, at the Dom sportova sports hall. If it were not a sad story, it would be a funny affair.

- This will be an April Fools joke if we will have to warm up at a different location, it will be a scandal of all the scandals. So much money has been spent and one really must be an artist to mess up something. We do one stupid thing after another, you saw the way it goes and where it is going – Lino Cervar, coach of the Croatian Handball team said.

Croatia has great ambitions for the World Handball Championship as it will host it, but a catastrophe looms with these scandals.

- Scandals are being created in the most awarded sport of a country of 4.5 million people. Every new scandals brings more negativity, and I don`t know what the World Championship will look like and how we will be champions – Lino Cervar said.

He had to fight various factors from the team`s bench throughout his career, and it looks like he is loosing his motivation.

- There is still some defiance in me, but it is hard when you see something like this happening in your homeland. We are the only collective sport which is an Olympic winner, and you should have respect for winners all your life, but we have to fight everyone. It will be hard because the system has started using the players, which is very low – sorrowful Cervar said.

Apart being the squad manager, Lino is the head coach of Zagreb HC. However there is the possibility of the entire project to collapse.

- Obviously, they would like people to come from America and play here and coach the team and not give a chance to out people. We want to send our people abroad in search of work – Cervar concluded.

Scandal after scandal lines in Croatia only two months before the start of the World Handball Championship, instead for all to agree and be the best in the world once again. Sad, but it seems this is Croatian reality – destroy everything that is good and where something cannot be stolen.
