On the second day, eight national teams passed to further competition of the World Handball Championship.
Group A
Slovenia and Tunisia will decide on Monday who and how many points they will take to the further competition. Tunisians convincingly overcame Greenland with 36-20, Wisseman Bousnin scored nine goals.
In the second round of group A, our northern neighbours Slovenians led by Zoran Jovicic who scored nine goals, beat Kuwait with 33-23.
Tunisia is the leading country in front of Slovenia due to one goal difference, while Greenland and Kuwait did not win a single point.
Group B
This group gave us a little surprise. The favourite Island was defeated by the Ukrainians 32-29 and if they wish to go further, they will have to beat France, which is not an easy thing to do. In the Sunday duel, the Islandians had a good start, but the Ukrainians returned to the battle on the wings of Yuriy Kostetskiy (10 goals) and slowly took the lead. Not even seven goals by Alexander Petterson did not help the Islandians. The French overcame Australia with ease in the second group round with 47-10. Australia is the last one without a point.
Group C
Germany and Poland insured their passing to further competition, and a duel between the two countries will be the deciding factor which country will start from which position. The Polls easily beat Brazil with 23-31. Tomasz Tluczynski was the best player with nine goals, while the goal-keeper Szmal was solid with 16 defences. Sebastian Preiss marked the German-Argentinian duel with five goals out of six attempts. Aregntina`s defeat would have been more convincing than 32-20 if there were not four scores by Marian Castro. Germany and Poland have four points each, while Argentina and Brazil have zero points.
Group D
World champions Spaniards solved the meeting with Qatar with less problems, scoring 41-18 for their benefit, than they did with Egypt. Juan Garcia Lorenzana was the best player with 11 goals, while the defeat would not have been as great if the best Qatar player Mahfoud Boumaraf had not had a 1/13 shot.
In the most interesting game of the second day, Czech Republic overcame Egypt with 31-30. The best Egyptian was El Ahmar, scoring 10 goals, while the biggest number of goals for the winning team was scored by Filip Jich (11). Spain and Czech Republic will decide between themselves who will start from the first position and carry through points because they are at a draw with 4 points each, while Qatar and Egypt have a score of zero.
Group E
Hungary continues to line surprises, and it has insured a further passing in the group with Norway and Denmark. They beat Norway with 25-22 and will start from the first position and two points into the next round. Denmark won against Angola with 39-20 and the game with Norway will determine their fate.
