The impressions are phenomenal! I have a medal from the world championship around my neck, I am absolutely delighted, said Natko.
Natko Zrnic-Dim has achieved one of the greatest successes in Croatian skiing, with third place in the super-combination at the World Championship in Val 'dIsere. Absolutely everyone who is know his work and follow his skiing are delighted. However, not nearly as much as he is.
I regret that Ivica is not here, I am very sorry. It would all certainly look different if he were here. Maybe we would have four Croatians amongst the top 15.
By winning this medal, Natko has come into the company of Ivica and Janica Kostelic, and has been written down in history. Even though everybody secretly hoped for this result, they could not calm down when it really came.
“This is definitely the greatest success in my career, without a doubt. I celebrated it in the company of my family, there were some skiers too. It was really great” said Natko, denying some media headlines that everyone will be dead.
His plans for the future are realistic, and it is positive that he is thinking about it all on a day when nothing is happening in Val d'Isere, when he has no training or competitions. This is a sign that Zrncic-Dim is focused on skiing and the continuation of good results.
“It would all look different if Ivica were here”
However, the whole nice story about great success was spoilt by something, and that is the absence of Ivica Kostelic, who is recovering at the spas in Daruvar, from a back injury.
Everyone who knows skiing knows that Ivica and Natko are like brothers, which is why they are happy when one of them achieves something. Natko achieved something that he never did, and Ivica was not beside him.
“I regret that Ivica is not here, I am very sorry. It would all certainly look different if he were here. Maybe we would have four Croatians amongst the top 15 and maybe two on the stand” explained the young Natko, who certainly has a big career in front of him.
