AL-RAM, West Bank, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Clashes erupted Saturday during a funeral procession in the Palestinian village of Al-Ram between Israeli troops and mourners, authorities say.

Villagers gathered to mourn 25-year-old Talat Ramiah, killed Friday after an Israeli soldier shot him in the chest during riots at the Temple Mount, when troops were dispatched to disperse hundreds of Muslim worshippers, The Jerusalem Post reported.

An Israeli military spokesman said toward the end of the procession, mourners began to throw rocks, Molotov cocktails and burning tires at Israeli troops. In response, troops deployed tear gas and fired on mourners with rubber bullets, Ma'an News Agency reported.

Ma'an said 12 Palestinians were injured, and no one was killed.
