YELLOWKNIFE, Northwest Territories, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- At least two people died and seven were hurt Thursday when a twin-engine float plane hit a condominium as it crashed in northwestern Canada, authorities said.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported the de Haviland Twin Otter aircraft, owned by Arctic Sunwest Charters, clipped the building and hit a car and power lines in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The accident occurred on a peninsula jutting into Great Slave Lake where police said the plane was landing after a flight from Thor Lake.

It was not clear whether the victims had been in the plane or on the ground, the CBC said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police had not confirmed how many people were aboard the 19-passenger float plane.
