PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Pakistani security forces say 25 militants were killed in attacks on five insurgent hideouts in northwest Pakistan's Orazaki area.

Dawn News said the aerial destruction of the hideouts was in retaliation for militant attacks on three security checkpoints that injured 17 security officers.

Orakzai is considered one of the most lawless areas in the northwest tribal region, which includes seven districts near the border with Afghanistan, Dawn News said Wednesday.
