BANGKOK, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Thailand's navy impounded three Vietnamese fishing boats that wandered into Thai waters and took 30 crew members into custody, naval officials said.

The Royal Thai Navy was informed by operators of Thai fishing boats that 10 Vietnamese fishing boats had entered into Thai territorial waters Wednesday, the Thai News Agency reported.

Rear Adm. Somsak Wanichcharoen said he ordered a navy patrol vessel and reconnaissance aircraft to enter the area, and crews found the Vietnamese fishing boats, east of Kra island in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Three of the Vietnamese boats were impounded and 30 Vietnamese crew members were taken into custody.
