Accused war criminal extradited to Serbia

BELGRADE, Serbia, March 22 (UPI) -- Shemsi Nuhiu, former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army Gnjilane Group, has been extradited from Switzerland to Serbia, officials say.

Nuhiu was tried in absentia along with 16 other members of the group on war crimes charges. He arrived in Serbia Wednesday night, after the Swiss Federal Court decided to extradite him March 7, a year after his arrest, B92 reported.

Ivica Dacic, Serbia's Interior Minister, said Nuhiu's extradition serves as a warning to any others who committed war crimes against Serbs in the former Yugoslavia, insisting they will be brought to justice.

The Gnjilane Group is accused of killing more than 150 Serbs and non-Albanians in the Gnjilane region, B92 said.
