Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun Kill Themselves

Text

Whilst the last battles were taking place on the streets of Germany, it is believed that Hitler and Eva Braun committed suicide.

German forces suffered their first big loss in Stalingrad, in the winter of 1942-1943. In north Africa, the allies stopped the Germans in their attempt to conquer the Suez Canal and the Middle East.

These losses were the main turning point of World War II. After that, Hitler’s military-tactical moves became irrational. The German army and its financial position were shaken, as well as Hitler’s health. His left hand started to uncontrollably shake, and some historians believe that he suffered from Parkinson’s disease.

It is not known if he really killed himself

-.--.-When the United States of America declared war on December 11, 1941, it brought Hitler into an awkward situation. He was at war with the largest country – the USSR, the largest industrial and financial power – the USA, and the largest imperial power – Britain. In 1943 his ally Musolini was removed from power, and the American forces occupied Sicily. This was the slow start of Hitler’s end.

The arrival of the allies into central Europe resulted with further warfare and the destruction of Germany. In April 1945 the Soviets were on Berlin’s doorstep, and Hitler’s associates advised him to retreat to Austria of Bavaria. However he was determined to die in the capital city, like a captain.

Whilst the last street battles were taking place between the Soviets and the remaining German soldiers, it is believed that Hitler committed suicide on this day in history, April 30, 1945, by shooting himself in the head. His newly wed wife Eva Braun also committed suicide.

His body, and the body of Eva Braun were soon buried, and it was never determined if he really killed himself.
