He was criticised by Cheney, the Vatican, Fidel Castro, as well as the British Supreme Court.
The Americans euphorically welcomed the inauguration of Barack Obama. The celebration is over, the new presiden`t speech was held and first criticism is already hitting home.
Former American vice president Dick Cheney severely came down on Obama. He said the USA
might again suffer a terrorist attack with biological or nuclear weapons. According to Cheney`s claims, Obama would be responsible for such a scenario because of his lenient diplomacy policy. Unlike Bush who withdrew to his Texas ranch, Cheney proved to be a tough opponent of the new US president. However, Cheney is not the only one.
The British Supreme Court also voiced itself, accusing Obama`s administration of threats. According to their claims, the USA threatened to cancel the collaboration of intelligence services with Britain if information on Binyam Mohamed, a Guantanamo prisoner, are published. However, all these accusations were denied later on and David Milliband announced that the information should remain secret after all.
Furthermore, Obama has been involved in another scandal. Some of his candidates for the minister seat `forgot` to pay taxes. In the end, the president admitted he made a wrong choice of the candidates.
Admitted to his mistake
I must admit my mistake, because it is very important for this administration to send out a message that nobody is privileged when paying taxes is concerned, Obama concluded.
Recently, the Vatican called out Barack Obama, when he lifted the ban of the USA funding international groups for family planning if they promote abortion or provide information, counselling or recommendations for abortion.
Obama was also criticised by former Cuban leader Fidel Castro who requested the States returned Guantanamo to Cuba. On his official website, Castro said that America would break international law and abuse its power against a small country unless it meets the demand. Additionally, he criticised America`s policy towards Israel.
Obama still has the support of his nation, which sees salvation in him. They hope he will keep his promises, introduce change and pull the county out of the crisis. Latest survey results showed that 68 percent of the subjects agree with his decisions.
However, according to recent survey results, 68 percent of Americans believe that Obama is doing a good job. He showed in the first days of his term that his policy was heading in a different direction to Bush`s.
He suspended Guantanamo prison persecutions, lifted the Freedom Act of Information restrictions and told Muslims that Americans were not their enemies. Despite everything, the new president is still facing an economic crisis, which must be dealt with, the citizens are loosing their jobs every day and big companies are collapsing. Time will tell if criticism or praise would come Obama`s way.
