Bank of England policymaker calls for rate hike

A Bank of England policymaker wanted the central bank to raise its key interest rate to 0.75 percent from a record low level of 0.50 percent, minutes of the last monetary meeting showed Wednesday.

In the end however, policymakers voted 7-1 to keep borrowing costs at 0.50 percent, the minutes added.
