NBA PRESIDENT

The new American president is a lover of basketball and the Bulls, but his fans across the NBA league expect a lot from Obama.
The inauguration of the American president Barack Obama has taken place, but few are aware how much he means as the head of the United States of America. Maybe by pointing out that Michael Jordan cried in November when Obama was chosen will help.
Obama’s victory celebrated with tears of joy
Micheal Jordan said that he cried like a small child when Obama was chosen for president. With this example we can see how much Obama represents the Afro-American population in the USA.
However, Jordan was not the only one to cry. Jesse Jackson also cried happy tears, as well as Ann Nixon Cooper (106) who went to the elections only for him. It is a great event for all of them. Even though we in Europe view him as an American with African and European roots, Americans view him exclusively as an Afro-American.
This is why this victory is huge, enormous, immeasurable with anything. In recent years Tupac Amaru Shakur´s song said that nobody would live to see a black president. However, people have lived to see the day, he is here, and soon will be able to show how capable he is for the change he announced.
This is why Jay-Z sang the song today which says “Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk/ Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run/ Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly”. The euphoria is huge, nobody is even watching what he brings as far as politics and the economy are concerned. That is not important, most people only know that Obama is an African-American who loves basketball and supports the Bulls.
This is why it is no surprise that significant support came from the NBA league. Financial donations were given by Paul Pierce, Baron Davies, Chauncey Billups, Dwight Howard, Shawn Marion, Grant Hill, Phil Jackson, Joe Dumars, as well as former stars like Jordan, Abdula-Jabbar and Isah Thomas.
Dirk Nowitzki supports Obama
Due to the support from such a large number of stars, you could say that the sport that Obama loves more than any other played a huge role in his life. He played basketball all his life, and now basketball played for him.
Unfortunately, no poll was taken about exactly how many players voted for him, and how many supported McCain, because they called that unethical. That is alright, because sport and politics should not mix. However, the fact is that most dark skinned players supported Obama.
Non-Americans also gave him support in the world strongest basketball league, like Dirk Nowitzki for example. The large German was even in Berlin when Obama gave his speech there in front of 200 thousand people.
Nowitzki said that people are very happy that Obama was chosen, because they needed change, especially in this time of crisis. He said that Europeans felt the same, as well as the rest of the world. He added that they see a leader in Obama that will turn the world in another direction.
Mutombo sees his African brother in Obama
However, whilst Dirk did not have the right to vote, Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo did. Even though he was born in Congo, in 2006 he received American citizenship and used it at these elections.
He said that he voted for the first time in his life, in a time when the son of Africa became the president of America. He added that the man has the same roots as him, the same point of view. He said that it was incredible that he was a part of history. Wamutombo was born in Congo, under the regime of the dictator Mobutu Sese Seko. He spent millions of dollars for building hospitals and schools so that he fellow citizens would not have to share his fate.
It can be said that he expects a lot from Obama. Just like Steve Nash does. The Canadian sees the end of the war in Iraq in Obama. That means a lot to him because in 2002, at the All Star weekend, he wore the message “No War. Shoot for Peace”.
A heavy burden is on Obama, the basketball president, the NBA favourite. Millions, billions of people expect change from him, and are closely watching his every move, weighing every word and delight at every gesture.
