A former Bosnian Serb officer was transferred to Bosnia on Monday to face trial on charges of genocide.

A former Bosnian Serb officer was transferred to Bosnia on Monday to face trial on charges of genocide over the 1995 Srebrenica massacre of more than 7,000 Muslim men and boys, the U.N. war crimes tribunal said.

Milorad Trbic is the 10th accused indicted by the tribunal who has been transferred to Bosnia for trial.

"After having considered various factors, including the gravity of crimes and his alleged level of responsibility, the Referral Bench on 27 April 2007 ordered the referral of the case to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina," the tribunal said in a statement.

Trbic, who surrendered to the tribunal in April 2005, pleaded not guilty to all charges during his initial appearance on May 2005.

The tribunal aims to complete all proceedings by 2010.

Under the terms of its completion strategy, a small number of cases involving low or intermediate level accused persons may be tried in courts in the region of the former Yugoslavia, freeing the tribunal to focus on senior accused persons.
