A British couple from Leeds, North of England, was denied adoption rights by the city services, until the man, who weighs nearly 150 kilos, looses weight, because he is threatened by early death.
Damien (37) and his wife Charlotte Hall (31), cannot have biological children
Damien Hall weighs 150 kilos, while his body mass index (BMI) is over 42. According to the World Health Organisation, BMI over 40 is considered “diseased obesity” and includes higher death rate risk.
Damien, who told the BBC Radio 5 that it is hard for them to lose weight under pressure, and believes the social services should have considered the couple’s good sides: “they don`t smoke, don`t drink and can provide the child with a happy and a safe home”.
