A petty British criminal of Serb origin allegedly bragged with the murder, saying it was revenge for NATO’s bombing of Belgrade.
The British Scotland Yard is investigating new information that a petty British criminal of Serb origin murdered BBC’s television anchor Jill Dando in 1999 for political reasons, the Daily Mail reported on Monday.
Scotland Yard detectives received a tip that a petty criminal of Serb origin had bragged about having killed Dando as revenge for NATO bombing Belgrade in 1999. Allegedly he confessed to the murder in front of more than a dozen people in a Belgrade bar in September 2001, the paper reported.
The 37-year-old TV presenter was killed with one bullet to the head on her doorstep in the western part of London.
At the time she hosted a television campaign for help to Kosovo refugees.
