The Briton could not buy presents for her family, but her luck turned on Christmas Eve when she won a million pounds.
The Briton was not able to buy her family Christmas presents, and she spent her last money on a lottery ticket, and only exchanged Christmas cards with her dearest, writes Daily Mail.
However, on Christmas Eve her luck changed, and the 5 pound lottery ticket brought her a prize of an incredible million pounds. She gave her children 300 pounds each. The Briton, who wishes to remain anonymous, said for Daily Mail that she still cannot believe that she won the prize.
“It was my last £5. It hasn't really sunk in that I've won - I don't know what I'll do yet” she said for Daily Mail.
“Before the win, she got us all a Christmas card but said she couldn't get us anything else because she couldn't afford it” said the her 17 year old son.
“After the win, we had our normal Christmas meal but Mum gave me and my three sisters £300 each” he added.
She will buy herself a house and will give the children another 100,000 pounds. The Briton recently stopped buying the weekly lottery, but at the last moment she bought a Christmas scratch card.
“She bought one a week before and won a tenner. She bought the scratchcard, scratched it off and she didn't know what to do”. “She passed it to my Dad and he said, ‘You've won a million pounds’” said her son.
