Some 27 people died when a bus burst into flames in southwestern China's Chongqing municipality on Tuesday.
The bus, with 38 people on board, was heading downtown when the fire eurpted just after 5 p.m. local time, the report said. It gave no details on what might have caused the blaze.
Survivors of the fire, which rescuers said was "fierce" were rushed to a nearby hospital, while two vice-mayors visited the site of the accident, Xinhua added.
