HAMILTON, Ontario, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A Canadian man suspected of stabbing two people to death and wounding three others in separate attacks remained jailed Saturday.

Loujack Nougues Cafe, 25, of Hamilton, Ontario, was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the Feb. 16 death of Laura Young, 37, and the Sept. 6 death of George Washington Burnett, 82.

Cafe also is charged with three counts of attempted murder for three attacks that occurred between Nov. 7 and Dec. 12, the Hamilton Spectator reported.

He took part in a court hearing by phone Saturday and was bound over for another hearing Wednesday, the newspaper said.

Young's body was found in a snowbank, Burnett was found dead in his bed and the other three victims were stabbed on city streets, the newspaper said.

Staff Sgt. Steve Hrab said police believe Burnett's murder "wasn't a random act," but the other victims were selected at random.
