Brigitte Harris was sentenced to 15 years in prison. She castrated her stepfather because he abused her since the age of 3.

Brigitte Harris from New York was sentenced to 15 years in prison because she killed and castrated her stepfather who sexually abused her since the age of three.

Brigitte reportedly feared that Eric Goodridge, her 55-year-old stepfather, would abuse her underage cousin.

She passed him out, after which she pushed a towel into his mouth, and cut his penis off with a scalpel. She then baked the genitalia to ensure that doctors do not sew it back on. She then called the ambulance, which arrived too late since the man chocked on a towel.

Brigitte has been in custody for the past two years and the courtroom was full of her supporters during the verdict announcement. Four of her supporters were jurors who eventually agreed that she must serve at least five, and no more than 15 years. Brigitte plans to appeal the verdict, writes NYdaily.

The paper writes that the jury was surprised with a behavior of a 29-year-old woman and that, after lawyer’s advice, she reportedly decided to repent before the chief judge, Arthur Cooperman.

However, the judge was obviously not overly impressed with this and said that the crime sometimes warrants a punishment. Brigitte’s Aunt, Comfort Lawrence, told reporters that her niece never showed any regret for what she did.

While in custody, Brigitte has been reported as very diligent, and she gave cooking lessons to other inmates. Her MySpace nickname is the Black Angel.
