ZHAODONG, China, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- A 36-year-old man in northeast China has been arrested for allegedly setting his neighbor's house on fire, killing three people and injuring 14 others.

Sources with the Zhaodong government said Li Xinbo, a villager from Xibali township in the city of Zhaodong, was arrested early Wednesday near the city of Shuangcheng where he had been hiding, Xinhua reported.

Li, a farmer, allegedly dumped two barrels of gasoline onto his neighbor's house Monday evening while under the influence of alcohol, set the house ablaze and then fled, authorities said.

The victims included members of his neighbor's family and visitors who had come to the house to offer Spring Festival holiday greetings.

Sources said Li had been arguing with his neighbor, and investigators say the arson could have been an act of revenge.

Authorities are investigating.
