Nine people arrested and 200,000 euro confiscated.
Action of breaking one of the biggest money counterfeiting chains was carried out in the Banja Luka area, where an illegal money printing office was discovered and counterfeit money taken away in the amount of around 200,000 euro, the BH Prosecution notified.
In the action, the following institutions participated: The Ministries of the Interior of the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska, of the Federation, Brcko district, State Agency for Investigation and Protection of Bosnia-Herzegovina, prosecutions of Croatia and Slovenia, European Union Prosecution Association and European Union Police Association (EUROPOL).
Nine people arrested
BH Prosecution lead the action and nine people were arrested, seven BH citizens and two Serbian, suspected of organised crime, production and distribution of counterfeit money.
For now, it is estimated that around 500,000 euro was counterfeited in total, and the investigation so far showed this discovered printing office was in function for the past two years.
Some of the people are known to the police for previously perpetrated felonies, especially the two from Serbia, where they participated in the same type of “activities” they were brought in for. During the “Sablja” action in 2003 in Serbia, they came to the BH territory and have been abiding in BH since that time, sarajevo-x.com reports.
