BRADENTON, Fla., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said they arrested a man for purse snatching after he was implicated by DNA evidence.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said Terrence Jackson, 36, dropped the white towel he was wearing on his head when he snatched a woman's purse from a 7-Eleven store in Bradenton May 6, the Bradenton Herald reported Thursday.

Deputies said they had the towel DNA tested and had the results entered into a national database, where it was matched to Jackson.

Jackson was arrested around 9 a.m. Monday, deputies said.
