Chief editor of the Banja Luka “Patriot” temporarily aborted his strike due to pneumonia, fever and low blood-pressure.

Slobodan Vaskovic, Chief editor of the Banja Luka magazine Patriot, temporarily aborted his hunger strike, which he started a few days ago in front of the Parliament building in Banja Luka.

Vaskovic started the starving because of the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska Government pressure towards his paper. Although he said he would strike until death, Vaskovic temporarily suspended the strike after the doctors stated a pneumonia, faster heart beat rate, a fever and very low blood-pressure, the Federal television reports.

RS President daily administers pressure

-I have no demands, because I addressed the official RS institutions, in order for everyday pressures of Milan Jelic, the RS president and the RS Tax Department on “Novi magazin” the publisher of “Patriot” to be averted- said Vaskovic during the strike`s commencement to the Nezavisne novine daily, stating he notified the State Agency for Investigations and Protection about everything as well as the European Police Mission in BH.

He adds how the RS Tax Department firstly carried out an unannounced, then an announced check of the company “Novi magazin”.

-They determined we did not report change of address and fined us 1,000 cm- said Vaskovic, adding he had information the check ups would be continued.

To the question why the “Patriot” was not published, Vaskovic replied “ because Jelic personally called a portion of the Patriot`s clients and demanded they stopped advertising in this magazine, therefore leaving them without income”, the Nezavisne novine writes.
