The arrests were made in early morning raids at six addresses across Birmingham.
Police said they had arrested eight people on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a sub-postmaster's son during an armed robbery in Worcestershire. Four were held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, four for helping an offender.
The arrests of the five men and three women were made in early morning raids conducted by more than 100 officers at six addresses across Birmingham.
Craig Hodson-Walker, 29, was shot dead at the post office and general store in the village of Fairfield, Worcestershire, on Jan. 9. His father Ken, 56, was shot in the leg and remains in hospital. West Mercia police superintendent Adrian Pass said the investigation was still in its early stages and appealed for information.
"We firmly believe that everyone living or working in north Worcestershire should be able to go about their business without feeling fearful and we hope that they will feel reassured by this morning's arrests," he said.
The Post Office has offered a reward of 50,000 pounds for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
