TOKYO, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Emperor Akihito was admitted to a Tokyo hospital Saturday after tests showed a possible deficient blood supply to his heart, the Imperial Household Agency said.

Akihito, 78, was scheduled for an angiogram after he showed symptoms of a minor ischemic change due to light exercise, Kyodo News reported.

Empress Michiko accompanied him to the University of Tokyo Hospital, where he is expected to be discharged Sunday, the news agency said.

Doctors found narrowing and hardening of his heart's main artery during an angiogram in February 2011. He was treated for prostate cancer in 2003 and bronchial pneumonia in November 2011.
