Costa Cruises: We are very sorry and deeply saddened
Text
The European Commission is concerned about the future of Romania's EU-driven judicial reforms after suspension of Basescu.
"What I strongly wish is that there will not be a lowering of the consolidation of the process of reform," EU Justice and Security Commissioner Franco Frattini told Reuters.
"It's not up to me to evaluate the internal situation. What is very important to me are results, even though there is a quite difficult domestic political phase," he said.
"The second point is the continuity of the implementation of practical investigations against high-level cases. In this point I would like to see the general anti-corruption prosecutor ... backed by the government," Frattini said, adding he would be extremely concerned if the prosecutor were replaced.
