DEATH TOLL - At least 1,109 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza offensive and more than 5,000 have been wounded, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza. A Palestinian rights group said at least 670 of the dead were civilians.

Thirteen Israelis have been killed -- 10 soldiers and three civilians hit by Hamas rocket fire --- since Dec. 27 when Israel launched a military campaign with the stated goal of halting rocket salvoes.
