Gaza medical officials put the Palestinian casualty toll at at least 431 dead and 2,000 wounded and a U.N. agency said more than a quarter of those killed were civilians. Four Israelis have been killed so far by Palestinian rocket fire.
Following are developments in the Gaza conflict as of 0800 GMT:
GAZA - An overnight air strike in Gaza killed Abu Zakaria al-Jamal, a senior leader of Hamas's armed wing, the Islamist group said. The Israeli army said only that it carried out a series of air attacks throughout the night.
GAZA - An Israeli air strike hits a college in the northern Gaza Strip, killing one of its guards. The Israeli army said aircraft struck a college used as a hiding place for Hamas activists and a central location for rocket launching.
The school is a private, Palestinian institution that is part of an association of "American Schools" in the Middle East. The curriculum includes English and Arabic studies. None of the teachers is American.
ISRAEL - Palestinian militants fire at least five rockets and mortar bombs into Israel. Israeli media said one landed near a dining hall in a southern community. No one was injured.
