Taliban militants fired a mortar bomb that hit a house in the Bajaur region near the Afghan border.
PESHAWAR - A bomb planted on a motorcycle killed a member of the North West Frontier Province assembly and wounded eight people in the northwestern city of Peshawar, police and hospital officials said.
Police said they believed the politician, Alamzeb Khan, a member of the secular, nationalist party ruling the province, was the target.
BAJAUR - Taliban militants fired a mortar bomb that hit a house in the Bajaur region near the Afghan border, killing a boy and wounding three women, a government official said.
Government forces have been fighting militants in Bajaur since August.
