ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- A Canadian man missing in Hong Kong since Dec. 21 has been found dead, his sister posted on her Facebook page Tuesday.

Joey Basha, 25, was working as an English instructor since 2008. He told his roommate he was going out for food around 3 a.m. Dec. 21 and hasn't been since, the QMI Agency reported.

His sister Cindy Basha in St. John's, Newfoundland, posted a Facebook message early Tuesday saying her brother's body had been found, but didn't give any further details.

"I regret to say that my brother, my beautiful, talented, sweet brother was found dead," she wrote.

There was no immediate confirmation from Hong Kong police, Postmedia News said.

As well as teaching English as a second language, he was fluent in Cantonese and was studying for a master's degree in international affairs at the University of Hong Kong, the reports said.

His mother told QMI police told her Basha had left his passport at home and there was nothing on his computer that suggested trouble.
