Police said his parents were not at the address at the time and the attack took place at the home of a family member.
Three-month-old Jaden Joseph Mack died in hospital of injuries he suffered after being mauled by a Staffordshire bull terrier and a Jack Russell at a house in Ystrad Mynach in south Wales in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police said his parents were not at the address at the time and the attack took place at the home of a family member, who media reports said was his grandmother.
She was taken to hospital and treated for shock while police said the dogs had been destroyed.
"We would like to stress to all families with young children and pet dogs that no matter how much trust you have in your dog, something like this is always possible," the family said in a statement.
"We never thought it could happen to us, but we are now grieving the loss of our 'little man' who will always be in our hearts and loved very much by all of his family and friends."
