Sharjah police said the fire, which blazed for five hours, caused serious damage in Industrial Zone 13.

Four people were killed and eight were wounded in a fire that blazed through an industrial area in the United Arab Emirates, the state-run WAM news agency said on Tuesday.

Two people were killed in the fire that destroyed three factories manufacturing lubricants, glass and paper in the emirate of Sharjah, and two others had died later in hospital, WAM said.

Seven cars were also destroyed in the blaze that began on Monday evening.

Sharjah police said the fire, which blazed for five hours, caused serious damage in Industrial Zone 13, destroying 10 storage tanks carrying 12,000-15,000 gallons of lubricants, it added.

Several fires have broken out in the UAE in recent months, including a major blaze at Sharjah's main cargo port and another at the busy Jebel Ali port in the Gulf trade and tourism hub of Dubai.
