The Columbian police reported on Friday that they confiscated four tonnes of cocaine and 1.7 tonnes of cocaine paste in a laboratory on the south of the country, that belongs to the paramilitary group “Black Eagles”.
The drugs were found in a secret laboratory for which the police claim can produce up to five tonnes of cocaine per week, and is located 950 km south-west of Bogota, on the border with Equador, said the police in their report.
The drugs made in that region are mainly directed overseas, over Mexico and central American to the United State of America.
The group “Black Eagles” is comprised of former extreme right paramilitary troops, who strengthened during the peace process that Alvar Uribe’s government started. That organization mainly deals with drug trading.
At the start of the year, the police confiscated 12 tonnes of cocaine.
Columbia is the world’s largest manufacturer of cocaine, with 600 tonnes per year, or more than 60 percent of the world’s production.
