The girls were suspended on December 23 to two to 15 days. Most will come back to school next week.
Almost 30 pupils aged between 11 and 18 have been suspended from the Grey Coat Hospital School in London, The Times Online reported.
The girls were suspended for allegedly spreading hate speech against one of the school’s professors on Facebook.
The girls were suspended in the range of two to 15 days on December 23 and most of them will be coming back to school next week.
The school’s headmistress, Rachel Allard, said the school had decided to undertake such measures “to send a strong message to those responsible that we do not tolerate such behaviour.”
- We can confirm that a number of pupils have been given fixed term exclusions for between two and 15 days after the school became aware of their involvement in a hate campaign about a member of staff using an open Facebook group – Allard said.
The messages were immediately scrapped from Facebook- Grey Coat is a Church of England school for girls from the age of 11 to 18. Boys can attend the school only from the sixth grade.
