The Greeks have postponed the trial to Croatian captain Kristo Laptalo again, who was charged with smuggling 51 kg of cocaine.

Trial to Croatian captain Kristo Laptalo and co-defendants Konstantin Metelevin and Narcis Garcia for drug smuggling charges was again postponed by the Greek Court.

Laptalo, who was arrested mid-July 2007 commanded the ship “Coral Sea”, where 51 kilos of cocaine were found as it docked in the Greek harbour of Patras.

The Laptalo case is slowly turning into drama and a story of fundamental human rights being violated. After 11 months in custody of a Greek prison, captain Kristo Laptalo`s trial was postponed for the second time and it is anticipated that the next discussion might be scheduled in October 2008.

This case is a disgrace for Greek jurisdiction, as well as the EU as Greece is its member because every man must have the right to trial within a reasonable period. Laptalo`s trial surely is not the case.
