Hague Defendant Karadzic Treated Boy For Autism

Apart from ordering the execution of 8.000 Srebrenica Muslims, Radovan Karadzic treated a 5-year-old for autism under alias David Dabic.

David Dabic, i.e. Radovan Karadzic, treated 5-year-old Danilo Balaban for autism. None of the doctors who had examined the boy could set a diagnosis, therefore the parents turned to doctor Dabic, who, as the boy`s mother Danijela said, was the only one to have helped him Serbian Kurir daily reports.

Furthermore, doctor Dabic continued taking care of his patient and often checks up on his state, making telephone calls from The Hague.

- There, doctor Karadzic called us from The Hague the other day, to as how Danilo was doing and to apologise for having to hide his real identity – Danijela Balaban said, the patient`s mother.

He looked like a priest…

Danilo`s grandmother Zorica said the family read about alternative treatment in the papers and contacted doctor Dabic.

- He came to our home in March for the first time and when I saw him, I wanted to kiss his hand, because I thought he was a priest, as he had a long beard – Danilo`s grandmother said.

She added that after observing the boy for a few hours, doctor Dabic talked with him and his parents and determined autism was in question.

According to the boy`s father Branko, Dabic treated Danilo by placing his hands on his head and forehead, first while he was awake, and after a few weeks, while the patient was sleeping.

Dabic called round three times a week and a session would last 45 minutes. Karadzic, i.e. Dabic, supposedly did not charge the treatment, and the parents say the results were evident after two visits already. The boy allegedly became more smarter, calmer, stopped grinding his teeth and started expressing his feelings and would answer when he was called.

Dabic`s patient is still faithfully waiting for him

- He brought us 20 dg of coffee, said he was off to a holiday and would be back in 15 days, when he would continue with Danilo`s treatment – Danijela told the Kurir paper.

This happened on July 18, the day when Karadzic was arrested. The family learned of his actual identity three days later, on July 21.

Since then, according to the parents, Danilo has been waiting at the window every day at therapy time, wondering if Dabic would come on his bicycle.
