Hague Tribunal To Rule Rasim Delic Case Sept. 15

Text

Delic was charged with allowing his troops to rape, torture and murder dozens of Croats and Serbs.

The U.N. tribunal in the Hague said on Tuesday it would pass judgment on Sept 15 on former Bosnian Muslim army head Rasim Delic, charged with war crimes against Croats and Serbs during the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

Delic, one of the most senior Muslims to appear before the tribunal, was charged with allowing his troops to rape, torture and murder dozens of Croats and Serbs.

He was accused of failing to punish alleged atrocities by foreign Islamic fighters under his command as well as his own troops.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia said it would deliver its verdict in the case on Monday, Sept. 15 at 1430 GMT.

Delic is one of a handful of Bosnian Muslims to stand trial in The Hague. Most accused are Serbs but the court has indicted senior figures from all three Bosnian ethnic groups.
