Romanian authorities seized a hundred kilos (220 pounds) of heroin Saturday, stashed in a Bulgarian heavy goods vehicle transporting aid to Haiti, police said.
"The police officers and a sniffer dog found a number of packages containing the drug, hidden in the brake system," the police explained in a statement.
Authorities uncovered the drugs as the vehicle, en route to Belgium, was about to cross the Hungarian border.
Romania has launched an inquiry into the case, and the Bulgarian driver faces up to 25 years in prison for international drugs trafficking.
